You’ll feel a little bit like both the black and the white swan with this split-personality workout. A mix of ballet and boxing, the Aerobarre class challenges your flexibility and sculpts long, lean muscles with basic barre moves and tests your coordination and endurance with fast-paced jab combinations. It’s safe to say Black Swan and Million Dollar Baby make it look easy! Our tip: Though the class was a great full-body workout, it’s a little difficult for first-timers to learn the proper form and keep up with the fast pace. Make sure you give it a few tries before deciding if it’s the right workout for you.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”black”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”10 New Workout Classes and Gyms You Have to Try” font_container=”tag:h1|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”1196″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

We all have that one workout that we love to do and will always come back to. It’s great to have go-tos, but sometimes it can get boring doing the same things over and over again. The good news is that there are so many new fitness classes popping up all the time, the options to mix up your workout routine and try something new are pretty endless.

The 10 new workout classes on this list are all winners of our SELF Healthy Living Awards. We looked through classes nationwide to find the newest ones we’re dying to try, the ones that bring something unique to the fitness space, and the ones that even trainers want to try. You never know, your new favorite class might just be on this list!

Switch Playground

You’ll use more machines and fitness tools in this one-hour class than you’ve probably ever used before. Classes are created every single day, so you’ll never do the exact same workout twice, but the structure always stays the same: Participants move through up to 20 stations, with two people at each station at a time. At each station, you rotate through two exercises for 30-second intervals. You’re sure to leave knowing new moves for another day.

AIR® Aerial Fitness

You’ll tap into all your core muscles during the 50-minute intro class, which teaches you how to use the aerial hammocks for AIR’s Pilates-ballet-HIIT-hybrid workouts. The studio also offers core- and yoga-focused classes, but no matter which you take, you’ll be relying on your midsection to stay aligned and balanced. Oh, and did we mention you’ll get a sweet Instagram pic?

Sweat Shed by Crunch

Crunch Gym’s newest workout studio offers 50-minute HIIT sessions in a wide-open space with an industrial feel. Throughout the workout, you’ll do things like rowing, using a TRX to work your shoulders and back, and lifting weights, depending on what circuits the trainer chooses each time

Equinox the Cut: Jump Rope

In just 30 minutes, you’ll crank up your heart rate and strengthen your entire body in this weighted-jump-rope class. Weighted ropes go up to two pounds—which might not sound like very much, but when you’re swinging a massive rope over and over again, it’s a serious workout. Trust us, 30 minutes is long enough.

Boxing is hot right now, and so is this Santa Monica, California, gym. The studio’s goal is to bring mindfulness into its workouts. It makes sense; if you’ve ever boxed, you know focus is essential for nailing punch combos. Try the form and footwork class if you’d like to brush up on your skills first. Ready to hop right in? The 45-minute signature class will have you shadowboxing, punching the bag, and mixing it up with plyometrics for a full-body workout.

Holy Water Yoga at TMPL Gym

While the idea of “floating” might make this class sound easy, it’s anything but. You’ll hop onto an aqua baseboard (a.k.a. your yoga mat) that’s floating on the surface of the saltwater pool and move through a yoga class that really tests your balance. Falling in is encouraged, so don’t stress if you do. Lots of your classmates will too.

Project by Equinox

While not a specific class, this new test studio by Equinox pulls the hottest fitness instructors into their space to lead classes you can’t find anywhere else. Try a variety of dance cardio classes to fine-tune your moves, weight-training classes to get stronger, and HIIT classes to turn up the intensity. You’re sure to have a different experience every time you enter the space.

Kick It by Eliza

Founded by fitness entrepreneur Eliza Shirazi, this kickboxing- and dance-inspired workout uses the beat of each song to cue the next move. You’ll work with a partner to practice punches and cheer each other on during planks, burpees, and squat holds. It’s a true feel-good kinda workout.

Boss Chick Workout

Love dance cardio? This women-only class takes it to the next level. The hip-hop, dance hall, and afrobeats fusion “twerkout,” which was created by Simone Sobers, a classically trained professional dancer, will have you moving and sweating—and, hopefully, leaving with a few new moves up your sleeve.

STRONG by Zumba

STRONG by Zumba is a bodyweight cardio and plyometric workout that works every single muscle in your body. No dance cardio here. You’ll squat, lunge, and burpee all in time to perfectly chosen beats, specifically curated to help you stick with it throughout the entire song.
